Sanjiv K. Saini, MD

"I am a big advocate of patient education. I feel that by educating our patients, we can help save their lives and their family and friendís lives as well. Skin cancer is a serious thing and it affects all of us. The more we know about skin cancer the more lives we can save. I love being able to remove cancers and leave great results for each of my patients."

Dr. Sainiís extensive training includes George Washington University, Georgetown University Medical School and an internship in General Surgery at Washington Hospital Center. He then served for our Nationís Air Force as a General Medicine Officer. Soon thereafter, he was promoted to Chief of Aerospace Medicine at the US Air Force Clinic in Los Angeles. It was here that he was directly involved in the healthcare of manned space flight engineers and astronauts.

When Dr. Saini returned to the DC area, he completed his Dermatology residency at Howard University Hospital and then completed his fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery at the Burkes Farber Clinics in Kennar, LA. He became Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1991 and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and, of course, the American Medical Association.

Since 1995, heís been providing care for dermatology problems that his patients have in St. Maryís and Anne Arundel Counties. Diagnosing hundreds of melanomas, Dr. Saini realized the need for a Surgery Center. Dr. Saini began the South River Ambulatory Surgery Center in Edgewater in 2003. He went beyond just establising this state of the art center by becoming Joint Commission Accredited. Itís here that he works to remove skin cancers and dermatological ailments for patients while maintaining strict regulations set forth by the Joint Commission.

Working within the community, Dr. Saini has been the Corresponding Dermatologist with the Washington Nationalsí Baseball organization for their annual skin cancer screenings for the players, staff, friends, family, and the fans. While teaching at some of the local universities, Dr. Saini has also participated in many of the community health fairs and events.

Nichole Thomas, PA-C

"Dermatology is a fascinating field, and I was drawn to this specialty because of the variety it offers and the opportunities to establish rewarding relationships with patients among multiple generations. I enjoy being able to offer and perform multiple services for my patients that include all aspects of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Nichole is a physician assistant board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Bridgewater College. She then completed her graduate work with specialized training in dermatology at Shenandoah University and received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. During the course of her graduate training, Nichole was recognized as a Dr. James C Laidlaw Scholar and received the Physician Assistant Foundation Scholarship and the PA Outstanding Clinical Performance Award.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). She regularly attends conferences hosted by the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Physician Assistants to stay well informed on the latest dermatologic treatments and procedures.

Preet Rajan, MMS, PA-C

"I enjoy the challenges and positive outcomes that Dermatology offers every day. My goal is to use my medical skills and experience to provide my patients with the best possible health care and making every day a rewarding experience for me, as well as my patients."

Preet is a Physician from India who moved to the United States in 1997. She graduated with honors from Anne Arundel Community Collegeís Physician Assistant program. She followed up with her Masterís Degree from St. Francis University.

Being a Navy wife, Preet was fortunate to travel around the US and acquire experience at both military and civilian medical facilities. This included externship at Presidio of Monterey Army Healthy Clinic, observership at a family practice clinic in Mountain View, California, as well as working with the medical director of an urgent care facility in Utah. She also worked as a full time PA at a Neuro-otology clinic in San Jose, California for four years. She brings over 10 years of medical experience to our practice.

Her passion for dermatology brought her back to our organization in 2011. In addition to seeing patients at both of our locations, she actively participates in local community events and skin cancer screenings where she educates the public about skin cancer and sun protection. Her patients admire her compassionate bedside manner, approachability, and her sense of humor. Having two young daughters herself, she loves working with children making them comfortable during their visits. Our younger patients call it their "favorite doctorís appointment."

The South River ASC is a Medicare and JCAHO Certified Ambulatory Center. Procedures performed are out-patient surgeries, meaning patients leave our center and return home the same day. :: More ::
